LIZ! HI! NI! Well since you are not there I will leave a story for you to read when you return
Once upon a time....
There was a boy who had red and white checkered overalls, these where no ordinary overalls, they held a magical power to them, a special magic that could spread good or evil across the land. Now the boy who possessed these pants was a nice boy, so the land was filled with good. Then one day the boy discovered something...and that something was.....FOOD! And not just any food, CHESSEBURGERS!!!!! DOUBLE DECKER!!!! And the boy would eat these double decker chessburgers constantly, and this boy became overwieght, and the other kids teased him because of his obesity, and this made the boy very sad, and angry, and because he wore the magical red and white checkered overalls, the land was filled with famine, and sorrow. This boy was named Big Boy.
(that was more of a preface, here comes the real story)
In the land far away from Big Boy there was a girl, a most unique girl. And she had a very special t-shirt. On this t-shirt was a wanted poster for the character Shrek, and his companion, Donkey. The people of this land call it the SHREKSHIRT!(buh bah bum!!) This t-shirt was very magical, for whoever wore it controlled the fate of the world. And because this girl praised God with all her being the world was filled with God's glory, and everyone was happy, this girls name was... LIZARDFISH!!! But we will just call her Liz for short...(be sure to click on lizardfish) NOW BACK TO OUR STORY!!!
There was one place in the world that did not have God's Glory shining in it! Rumor was that the land was ruled by an evil King who fashioned red and white checkered overalls! Well hearing of this kingdom made Liz sad, and she wanted to help the people of the land ruled by the evil king who wore red and white checkered overalls. So she set out on a mission to help the people of the land ruled by the evil king who wore red and white overalls. CHECKERED OVERALLS!!!
But Liz did not go on this mission alone, her friends took off with her. Her friends were Jessie the Wise, Keith the Brave, Tod the BellySmacker, and the powerful twins, Jen and Jenny. They were the FELLOWSHIP OF GOD!!! YAY!!!! (wow this is long) that was PART I, more to come later!!!
oh what the heck, ill just do it now!
so they were traveling along, the first place they came to was the land known as Reneilk. They passed through Java Town, and Jessie the Wise was thirsty so she purchased some COFFEE POO!!(coffee poo variaties) But the quest could not be delayed so Jessie the Wise, with her wisdom, wisely said "Go ahead I'll catch up!"
So the journey to the land that was ruled by the evil king who wore red and white checkered overalls continued, with Jessie the Wise in delay!
Next they came to a big house in another land, this house was GINORMOUS!! . And it was owned by a family by the name of Field. The House of Field was a very prestigeous place for soilders to train hard, and learn much. And Keith the Brave, in his bravery, said bravely "I think I'm gonna hang out here a while, there is much for me to learn!!" And since Liz loved Keith she blessed him and let him stay, for she wanted what was best for him!!
So the four remaining companions continued on to the land ruled by the evil king who perfered to wear red and white checkered overalls!
Then, while traveling through an empty lot, out of no where came a dragon!! There was a battle, but no one could do anything until...TOD THE BELLYSMACKER STARTED PLAYING DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION!!! AND HE CHALLENGE THE DRAGON TO A DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION DANCE OFF!!! The dragon jumped on the mat, and they started to dance away. The dragon was good, and the ground shook everytime the dragon stomped on an arrow! BUT TOD THE BELLY SMACKER KEPT UP!!! The other three knew this could take a while so they recorded themselves cheering Tod on a tape recorder and played it on repeat on a stereo leaving TOD TO VANQUISH THE DRAGON!
So Liz and the twins traveled on to the land ruled by the evil kind who dressed himself with red and white checkered overalls! Then something happend to the twins, like a big stapler, or harmonica, or something distracted them or maybe they just said "hippos rule!" and exploded!
So it was down to just Liz as she came to the entrance of the the land ruled by an evil king who, to cover himself, put on red and white checkered overalls. There was a big wall that blocked Liz's way. It was too high to climb, and Liz had nothing to dig under it with, but on the wall there was a ginormous picture of a yellow pencil, it was 20' high! And engraved on the wall was a riddle it read...
"What has a yellow skin and writes?"
"If only Jessi the Wise was here." exclaimend Liz.
But then God planted the answer in her mind, and from the top of her lungs she screamed "A BALLPOINT BANANA!"
And the door to the land ruled by an evil king who perfered red and white checkered overalls opened, and Liz entered the land ruled by and evil king who everyday put on a pair of red and white ballpoint bananas.
wait! I meant checkered overalls!
When Liz entered she saw a sad place, full of sad people, but there was one man who stood in the crowd, and he did not seem sad at all, he seemed to be filled with joy, and God's Glory!! This man was named Zaffer!!! (combo of zac and gaffer!) Liz and Zaffer were drawn to one another, and they met and talked about God and many other things. Zaffer explained the problem(see preface). So Liz and Zaffer went and talked to the evil king who blah blahed red and white checkered overalls
(finally the end)
(is coming)
They went up to the evil king who was draped in red and white checkered overalls. And Liz and Zaffer saw that he was a sad boy, and so Liz asked "Why are you so sad??"
And the evil king looked at Liz with his sad eyes and said "I am so fat, I have tried diets but I can never stick with them, excersice but I can't stop eating. How can I get rid of my fat??"
And Liz with the strength of God responded "I know a way. I know a diet that sticks with you, I know an excersise plan where another man burns your fat. I am speaking of Jesus!"
And when Liz said this, Big Boy looked towards Heaven, and repented, and his fat was taken away from him and he was freed, and he tore off his overalls displaying his boxers to the world and said "My power no longer comes from my overalls but from the Lord!!"
AND THERE WAS A HUGE PARTY AND EVERYONE IN THE WORLD KNEW THE LORD AND WAS HAPPY!!!

10:08 PM
I got out of His House and felt like doing something. I thought about doing something with other people, but the more I thought about it and tried to be with other people, the less I found it necessary. So I walked outside, and began zig-zagging across campus in an unorganized and crazy walk. One that it seems like no person would ever take, because of its randomness. I left Kirkhof out the backside, on the right. I walked around to the front of Kirkhof and walked back inside. I left out the back again, in the middle. I walked along the road towards the fieldhouse, crossed the street and walked back towards Kirkhof on the opposite side of the road. I crossed the street at Kirkhof, and walked along the road again towards PAC. I crossed the street again, heading towards Laker Village. I acquired a rythmn to my step, my hands in my pockets, my coat bunched up near my elbows. The rythmn reminded me of a song. The song reminded me of my God. I began singing as I walked along the road in front of Laker Village.
"Everywhere I go I see You. Everywhere I go I see You."
That's all I sang, because I couldn't remember the rest of the song. I stopped on the sidewalk in front of the intramural soccer field. I looked up at the sky, still singing. I walked out onto the field, still looking at the sky, stepping out the rhythmn and singing those words. Have you heard the Hope College version? He begins praising God for everywhere he sees Him. That's my favorite part of the song.
I'm living right by the intramural field next year. It's my backyard. There were the stars, more visible than anywhere I had been on campus. That's my backyard next year. The intramural fields.
I continued walking, now along the road towards the football field and the Ravine Apartments.
"I see You on this sidewalk, Lord. In these hills and trees. In the road and in these warning signs. In these people. I see You in the sky and in those marshes. I see You everywhere I go Lord. I wanna see You more."
I began singing out my own praises to God for where I saw Him. I came up with great places. Places I truly do see God. Places I've always seen Him. I reached the Fieldhouse, and was walking in the muddy grass out front. I had stopped singing about where I saw God, and I realized that I had never said, "I see You in my heart Lord." I'd never thought of it when I sang that song. I'd never considered it before. "Everywhere I go I see You..." but I never think about seeing You in myself. Wow. That's got to change. I need to see Him in myself. He's gotta be there. I've gotta think about Him when I think about my heart. Sometimes, I just don't see Him there though. I just can't find Him where He belongs in my life, in myself. I can see Him in all the people around me, but not in me. Help me see You Lord where I truly need to.

Could anyone reading this explain to me the reasoning behind the Student Against Sweatshops hunger strike? I'm just a bit perplexed. I know that they have been striving to remove Taco Bell from the GV campus for quite a while but I guess I don't fully understand WHY. I know the tomato pickers don't get paid enough, they briefly explained that to me when the asked me to sign a petition to remove Taco Bell. It was strange, but these students had said that basically, the Taco Bell workers had written to SAS about their poor conditions and how Taco Bell refused to allow them to unionize. These workers ASKED Grand Valley to boycott Taco Bell and get it removed from campus. This is what these students reported to me. I'm a little confused, because besides putting forth a powerful effort to remove this venue off campus, which has led to a hunger strike, I do not see or have not heard what this organization tried to do PRIOR to removing Taco Bell from campus. Did they contact Taco Bell headquarters? Did the speak with any of the employees at the on-campus Taco Bell? Did they consider the future of those employees who currently work there? I do not know enough about this issue and I would love to know more. I want to understand why a hunger strike is necessary for this issue. Can anyone help me?
