:: Recoil! ::
When Eric gets an interesting assignment from his teacher, strange things begin happening. He wakes up one day, and realizes that something in his life, and his hand, is not quite right. He soon discovers that he has become the result of a top secret governmental experiment, and he has now been turned into a walking weapon! Can he control his rage, and the bullets shooting out of his body before it's too late?
The concept of this B-rated horror film was, all in all, a good idea. Making someone into a human weapon who produces bullets out of his iron and shoots them out of his fingers definitely makes life exciting. They even added a bit of mystery to it, in that when Eric first arrives to school the metal detector doesn't go off. When he leaves though, his first bullet has already been produced and the detector beeps! Pretty cool. They also had this whole sequence with a green hand flashing on the screen. The music was great and the camera angles were all in all the worst possible angles ever...which made it great! The lack of one-liners definitely brings this move down a notch. The fact that his fingers started falling off though adds to the movie for sure. Despite all of these assets, Recoil gets a low score of just:
(3 out of 10 scary troll dolls)
Due to the fact that Eric woke up and the whole thing was just a dream is what ultimately lowers this score so much. What's more is that you find out his teacher is the crazy brother he had that disappeared years ago. The brother that he seemed to miss and desire to see so much. And Eric ends up pointing a gun at him, ready to kill him! Quite confusing. Although, I guess his brother had killed his dad years ago. At any rate, they don't even end up enjoying a quiet family reunion, and the teacher even denies ever being his brother. Pretty pathetic. In addition to that, the movie makers try to make you wonder if the whole thing really was a dream by showing a silver marble in a child's playground. Despite the fact that it looked similar to the giant ball of iron that fell out of Eric's hand in his dream, the fact that the ball was placed in a playground just makes me believe that some kid lost it out of his pocket. It wasn't even a bloody silver ball of iron! One drop of blood on that thing would have had me guessing and wondering for...well...minutes!
