:: Blusterific ::
I love hanging out with guys. They are just so trusting, so willing to make you laugh, and so willing to share their most embarrassing moments without even thinking about it. So I've gone out with "the guys" at church for lunch twice now since my internship began. With yesterday only being my second time, I must say that their honesty astounds me. Aaron started it off by sharing one of his crazy dreams which spawned a conversation about sleepwalking. One of the guys shared the best sleepwalking story I have ever heard, as he detailed a crazy incident from his childhood in which he actually peed into his refrigerator while he was sleeping. haha! I am laughing so hard even as I type this. PEED IN HIS REFRIGERATOR! I guess he had to clean it up and throw out a lot of the food when he woke up. Somehow this led to everyone confessing how whenever they would dream about peeing in a dream as a youth they would wake up to actually find themselves lying drenched in a puddle of urine. Then the fart stories shortly followed, with Tom leading the way about the time he had timed a fart perfectly so that he could easily blame it on a coworker that was quickly coming in and out of the room he was in. Each guy in the car had something astronomically ridiculous to share and we all had a good laugh in the end! After this experience, I never want to miss a Wednesday lunch with the guys again.
In other news, Jessie called me yesterday and left a bubbly message that said, "Liz, it's WINDSday!" and I laughed really hard about that. We also saw Burton's "Willy Wonka" yesterday and were highly entertained. Johnny Depp was totally awesome in a Dr. Evil/Michael Jackson kind of way that made me laugh so hard...especially when he accused Mike TV of being a mumbler and ran into the glass elevator...twice. But, my favorite actor in the movie had to be David Kelly, or "Grandpa Joe." I saw him in "Waking Ned Divine" as well and have determined that he is one of my favorite old man actors and I am craving to see every other movie he has ever acted in. IMDB...here I come!
Tonight I have Fusion, which I always look forward to but have been enjoying especially lately. PK is talking about intimacy with God and it is really pushing me to be in a new level of my faith. This next year is all about developing myself as a leader, teacher, and Christian and the Lord is slowly but surely pointing out various distractions I need to eliminate in order to achieve that.
This Saturday is an all-day Fusion extravaganza, featuring indoor paintball and a cookout/bonfire at PK's that night. It's probably a little late for paintball...and the cost is like $20 anyway, but if any of you care to join for the bonfire festivities (bonfire actually has very disturbing word origins...I was inspired to investigate the last time I attended one and have since had a slight distaste for bonfire festivities, but will nonetheless attend) give me a ring and we can enjoy some mallow and billiards action at the Gothman's. Plus you can meet some of my rad new pals.
The Website for Fusion is coming along. I'm using GoLive to design it which actually employs CSS style sheets instead of html which is pretty sweet. Hopefully I'll have it up and running next week but I'll probably end up redesigning the whole thing throughout the rest of the duration of my internship. It's gotten much better but it really still leaves a lot to be desired. I may just end up designing the whole thing in photoshop and let most of the page be images, with little to no text. Probably not the best approach, but your so limited in text options without using photoshop. We shall see though, we shall see.
Sometimes I wish I could live in Colorado with a ginormous two-story home with a wrap-around porch and a swing. I'd just sit out there on a crisp fall day, sipping tea and reading C.S. Lewis, with my cheesy, thrift-store sweater on and a flannel blanket on my legs. My husband would be by my side, his left arm laying comfortably around me and his right hand playing with my hair. His sweater would be gray and woolen and he'd read over my shoulder until I got annoyed with him stopping me from turning the page that I'd begin to read it outloud. Two people. Enjoying each other's company doing absolutely nothing. Just sitting still, living, breathing, not constantly on the move, not running around doing things we've convinced ourselves are important but really, in the end, are not. Experiencing life by experiencing each other. It's amazing how a simple change of scenery can make someone believe that their life will change that drastically. But the truth is, to steal and repharse Dumbledore, "it is not our [environment] that determines who we are, it is our choices." Tomorrow, I'm going to do something that will make my heart soar.
